Does the picture below look like a movie scene to you? This was one of the highlights of my year, taking my sister to see A Christmas Story museum. We had a blast looking at props and hearing stories about the movie making process. This picture is our son re enacting, "Daddy's going to kill Ralphie!"

This picture is a recent highlight. We're an one income family that loves to serve others. This means we aren't home as a family as much as we want, and we don't have resources to run off and travel with ease. Because it was my husband's big birthday this month and we hadn't done anything as a family in months, we traveled 150 miles to see Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. We literally traveled through a blizzard but to see this group that we all love, visit with friends who were in the choir, and meet Denver for a few seconds...definitely a highlight!
It was a special gift from my sister--Gettysburg. I love history and really enjoyed the trip.
First day of school! I know this is always a highlight for parents, but to see our youngest head to kindergarten after years of therapy---there just aren't words to explain the joy to see her graduate from pre K and confidently bounce all the way to the bus. She continues to love it!
Those are off the top of my head highlights. I enjoyed camping with family friends and showing them our old stomping grounds, as well surprising our son with a trip to the Lego Museum on the Ohio/W. VA border.
Writing highlights? I'll share tomorrow. How about you? I'd love to hear your highlights of the year. It's a good exercise in looking back and remembering, oh right, there were good times, weren't there?
